「映画のご案内」
〜皆さんは広島の平和公園でオバマ大統領とハグを交わした老人をおぼえていますか？〜

昨年も大変好評でしたので、上皇后美智子様もご覧になって話題になった「灯籠流し」という映画を
ロンドンで再度上映致します。

この映画は「原爆の犠牲者に国境は関係ない」と、自らも8才で被爆した 森 重昭さんが、
約40年の歳月をかけて、被爆死した米兵捕虜12人の遺族を探し出し、真実を伝えたドキュメンタリーですが、
この森さんの奥様のご縁(ロンドン友の会　下記参照）により昨年ロンドンで上映会を開催しました。

映画館では見ることのできないこの映画は日英両言語でご覧になれます。ぜひご家族やお友達もお誘い合わせの上、ご来場ください。

Do you remember the man, whom the former US President Barack Obama hugged during his visit to the Hiroshima
Peace Memorial Park in 2016?

It was Shigeaki Mori, a survivor of the Hiroshima A-bomb attack, who spent over 35 years tracking down stories of
American POWs in Hiroshima.

On 6th August 1945, the young Shigeaki witnessed the explosion. He survived that day, but his life changed
forever. Mr. Mori went on to document the events of that day and the thousands that were lost. Through his research,
he found evidence of the 12 American POWs, and spent over 35 years tracking down their stories, not as enemies
but as humans that suffered in one of history’s most tragic events.

The film is unavailable to see in normal big cinemas and it has been screened by groups of people in different
parts of the world. It was shown in the United Nations as well.

２０００年１月１日に、それまでの「婦人之友愛読者の集い」から「ロンドン友の会」が発足しました。会の活動としては、
毎月第３木曜日にロンドン在中の会員宅にて、１0：30～14：00 頃まで、「婦人之友」を中心にテーマを決めて活動をして
います。今年のテーマは「持続可能な社会のための『生き方のモノサシ』について」をメインにしています。
会員がそれぞれ担当して調べ、学び合います。夏には家族共に参加するバーベキューもあり、クリスマス、新年には
持ち寄りで料理も学んでいます。
