Contract Term: Part-time (20-30 hours per week) / Full-time (40 hours per week)
Contracted Hours: Shifts rostered between 11.30am–11.30pm, Monday – Sunday (5 days in 7)
Start Date: mid-May 2022
Salary: DOE (£9.50-£11.00 per hour)
Overview of the role
We are searching for motivated people who are driven to offer exceptional customer service and willing to spread our love for sake by joining our team as in-store staff. An excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to learn more about sake and about Japanese culture! Your main role is to support the store manager in all store-related and e-commerce operations, including the bar section. The role holder will be expected to have flexibility to cover different shifts from roughly 11.30am to 11.30pm (the shop’s opening times being 12pm-11pm).
Duties
Welcome and engage with customers as they enter the store
Assess customers’ needs and suggesting solutions to their problems
Work with processing payments
Comprehensive understanding of the store products (this knowledge will be built through training sessions)
Give customers advice about sales and promotions
Use upselling techniques to increase store sales
Recommend the best products to customers
Responsible for opening, closing, and end-of-day procedures
Clean and restock the store throughout the day, before opening and after closing
Assist with the ordering and counting of stock. Stocktake administration and adjustments
Assist with the organisation and hosting of internal and external events
Cover for the online shop
Prepare drinks for our customers
Follow all food safety training & ensure safe food
Advise our customers about our food & drink products
Serve food & drinks to our customers
Attend weekly meetings to improve the store operation by sharing personal and customers’ feedback with the rest of the team, and discussing possible solutions together (in Japanese: kaizen meetings!)
Attend training sessions when required
Support a culture of continuous improvement
Act in accordance with the relevant Health & Safety policies and procedures, adhering to legislative compliance and company requirements
Skills and Requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced customer service skills
Basic maths skills
Strong level of professionalism at work
Patience when dealing with difficult customers
Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
Fluent spoken English (any additional languages would be advantageous)
Must have flexibility to work shift patterns during weekdays and weekends
