Seeking Cosplayers on a Student Documentary Film!
Hi there, I’m Jeff, a student film director from London Film School. I’m preparing to shoot a 10-minute documentary film, "Cosplay: Selfhood in a Mask”. I'm in search of unique individuals connected to the world of cosplay to star as main characters. Here's the basic info about this film:
Logline: This documentary film will delves into the lives, struggles, and passions of four unique individuals who find freedom, community, and identity through cosplay. Their journey will lead to the same point: how do the labels we choose to wear shape us and our place in society?

🌟 Who We're Seeking: We're seeking individuals with interesting stories to tell that intersect with our themes. Below are just some examples:
Professional Cosplayer: Someone who's making a career in cosplay, possibly against conservative family opinions.
Cosplay Costume Designer: Individuals who design and make cosplay costumes and accessories.
Cosplay Store Owner: Business people who play a role in supporting the cosplay community.
A Couple involved in cosplay : A couple who finds a unique and intimate language in cosplay.
Critical Cosplayer: Someone who has strong opinions about the "right" and "wrong" ways to cosplay, including views on body image and costume authenticity.
Feel free to ignore these examples, we welcome anyone who has interesting stories related to cosplay on board!
📅 Project Details:
1. Shooting Dates: 14/10/2023-15/10/2023 and 27/10/2023 - 02/11/2023
2. Shooting Location: Various, all within London
3. Guests must reside in London.
4. This is not a traditional casting call. We're making a documentary, so we're looking for real people. No acting experience needed—just be yourself! However, if you're an actor who also cosplays, that’s a plus—you'll get to play yourself!
5. This is a student film, so it's unpaid. However, we will cover all food and transportation (only within London) on the day of filming.
6. Although the total shooting time is 9 days, each guest is expected to be available for approximately 2 days. Please indicate your availability for this period. Specific dates are negotiable.
7. We will be filming during the UK’s largest comic convention, MCM Comic Con (27/10/2023 - 29/10/2023). We strongly encourage our guests to attend!
8. This is a great opportunity to express yourself, showcase your costumes, meet capable film students, enjoy the experience of being filmed, and interact with cosplayers from around the world at the UK’s largest comic convention!
