Job description
We are seeking an PART-TIME experienced Omakase Sushi Chef
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Being able to present the nigiri/appetizers in detail
Cutting, chopping, slicing, and filleting different types of produce/proteins (especially different types of fish)
Inspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, fish, and other foods used to prepare dishes and informing the Executive Chef when quality is sub-standard
Preparing various dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
Sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before/during/after every use.
Ensuring that all prep list/checklist and any ordering need is being done every day for consistency purposes.
The ability to work under pressure while maintaining the best product quality
To be successful as a team member at Sushi Makoto, you must ensure that all ingredients used in dishes are of the highest quality. Ultimately, an exceptional member should work well under pressure, work well with a team, and maintain restaurant standards at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 5 years as an Omakase Sushi Chef preferably at an upscale restaurant
Extensive knowledge of Japanese food and culture
Proficient in English
Advanced knife skills
Availability to work nights, weekends & holidays
Positive attitude
The ability to stand for long periods of time
Excellent time-management skills

Pay: $35.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
