We are an artisan bakery café offering coffee, sandwiches, and baked goods.

Our bread and pastries are freshly baked every morning at our main bakery, Little Bread Pedlar – one of the best artisan bakeries in London!

We are currently looking for a new team member with barista and hospitality experience in food service.
All three of our shops are managed by a Japanese director, and we offer a variety of Japanese products such as matcha lattes, yuzu tea, teriyaki chicken sandwiches, and more. We are also planning to open a Japanese sake (日本酒) bar soon, so any knowledge or experience with Japanese food and beverages would be a significant advantage.

Position: Retail Assistant
Location: Across our three shops:
Café Pedlar, 20 Lower Marsh, London SE1 7RJ
Peko Peko Pedlar, 34 Moreton Street, SW1V 2PD
Pedlar’s Pitstop, St Mark’s Church Garden Yard, NW1 7TN
Working hours: 7/8 hours a day. Part-time. 1-3 days a week.

We are currently prioritizing applicants who are available to work on Sundays.

Essential Requirements:
- Strong barista experience (latte art is a plus; knowledge of how to clean an espresso machine is essential)
- Previous customer service/front-of-house experience
- Familiarity with POS/till systems (Loyverse/Zettle)

Primary Responsibilities:
- Opening the shop and preparing all speciality drink stations for the day
- Carefully displaying baked goods and retail items; restocking packaging materials (e.g. cups, lids, paper bags)
- Serving expertly prepared beverages including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks with efficiency and attention to detail
- Cleaning and sanitising work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Having a strong understanding of the menu and confidently recommending products to customers
- Providing friendly, attentive service and building positive relationships with customers
- Taking orders and processing payments using the Square POS system
- Maintaining clear communication with the shop manager, especially regarding low stock or operational issues
- Following our Code of Conduct and always acting in a professional, respectful manner
- Complying with all health and safety protocols, including:
- Labelling and dating food meticulously
- Frequently sanitising public-touch surfaces
- Taking initiative during quiet periods for deep cleaning, restocking, or other useful tasks

Benefits:
- Pay: £13.15 per hour (3-month probation period)
- Holidays: Accrued monthly based on hours worked
