Kitchen Chef Wanted – Breakfast, Brunch & Lunch Chef

Hackney’s Healthy Hangout / Independent Cafe – Hackney Road

We are looking for a confident, reliable and experienced Kitchen Chef to take ownership of our cafe kitchen and cook our full breakfast, brunch and lunch menu.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can work independently, keep the kitchen organised, and deliver fresh, well-presented cafe food consistently throughout the day.

Our menu includes eggs on toast, omelettes, avocado toast, Eggs Florentine/Royale, Full English, waffles, açai bowls, toasties, burgers, bagels, wraps, soups and salads.

We need someone who is fast, clean, organised and proud of the food they send out.

Main duties include:

Preparing and cooking breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes to a high standard
Running morning prep and setting up the kitchen before service
Cooking eggs, brunch plates, toasties, bagels, wraps, burgers, soups and salads
Preparing fresh ingredients, sauces, fillings, salads and daily soup options
Managing prep lists, stock rotation, fridge organisation and labelling
Keeping food presentation consistent and attractive
Working quickly and calmly during busy service
Following recipes, portion sizes and plating standards
Keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and fully service-ready
Helping reduce waste and control food costs
Supporting specials and menu improvements when needed

We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in a cafe, brunch, deli, casual dining or restaurant kitchen
Confident cooking eggs, breakfast dishes, burgers, wraps and fresh lunch items
Able to manage prep and service without constant supervision
Fast, practical and highly organised
Clean, tidy and serious about food hygiene
Reliable, punctual and hardworking
Calm under pressure
Respectful, professional and easy to work with
Able to take responsibility for the kitchen and maintain standards

You must have:

Previous kitchen experience
Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling
Ability to work daytime shifts
Right to work in the UK
A positive attitude and strong work ethic
