Japan House London (JHL) aims to create enduring relationships between the peoples of Japan and the United Kingdom. Central to this mission, and essential to the organisation’s strategic success, is the approach to learning and participation. Everyone using JHL - including customers in the shop and restaurant, pre-booked groups, exhibition visitors and participants in workshops - will learn about Japan. The organisation will become a centre for excellence for learning about Japanese culture, changing perceptions of Japan amongst UK-based and UK-wide audiences. JHL aims to give everyone a meaningful and inspirational experience.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Learning, Participation & Outreach Manager (LPOM) will be responsible for producing and delivering innovative, high quality learning and engagement opportunities for audiences of all ages, interests and abilities. This will involve creating and commissioning excellent content and resources, as well as learning experiences in both formal and informal settings.
In carrying out their duties, the LPOM will be expected to embed JHL’s presence in the local community as well as outside of London by developing partnerships with organisations, institutions and funders across the U.K.
JHL will continually evaluate its learning programmes and measure its performance. The LPOM will aim to measure engagement, learning outcomes, implementation and impact objectives. A range of quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods will be used in line with JHL’s Key Performance Indicators.

REQUIREMENTS
* Educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification) in Education (B.Ed), a relevant Social or Behavioural Science field, or related study.
* At least 3 years’ experience in an Education, Participation or Outreach role.
* A knowledge of the current National Curriculum and other statutory education requirements and initiatives.
* An understanding of Japan, its culture and history.
* Experience of living in Japan would be highly advantageous.
